Mohonk Mountain House

I found The Mohonk Mountain House – tucked away in the mountains of New Paltz, NY – to be the perfect relaxing, luxurious, and charming escape from day-to-day NYC life.

This sprawling hotel and grounds provided everything I hoped for including hiking adventures, beautiful sights, and absolute comfort in a setting that truly connected me with nature.  I found Mohonk Mountain House perfectly beautiful and serene.

This grand Victorian-style resort was truly breathtaking. The sheer scale of the building, the grounds and gardens, and the mountain trails were awe-inspiring. I loved the turreted towers and sprawling porches; it felt like something out of a fairy tale or classic novel.

And the inside (like the lobby’s fireplace, expansive windows, and cozy seating areas) was just as lovely. The rooms, with views of the lake to luxurious suites, were equally impressive. Space were beautifully appointed with traditional touches like wood paneling, elegant drapes, and antique-style furniture, but with modern amenities to ensure comfort. My room overlooked the lovely lake and exuded a cozy warmth and a sense of peaceful luxury.

The grounds and gardens surrounding the hotel were nothing short of breathtaking. With more than 40 miles of trails, there was plenty of natural beauty to explore. From leisurely walks through well-kept gardens to more challenging hikes through the surrounding woods, Mohonk Mountain House provided trails for all levels of adventure. I was too chicken to try … but for folks who love a good challenge, the “Sky Top Trail” is a must. It’s a relatively short but steep hike that takes you to the top of Sky Top Tower, offering a panoramic view of the entire region. The “Lake Trail” was more my speed with a peaceful, scenic walk around Mohonk Lake with gorgeous views of the hotel.

One of my favorite things about Mohonk Mountain House was Tea Time. It was the perfect way to unwind. Sipping tea on the expansive porch while gazing out over the lake was an experience that felt both calming and indulgent. It was the kind of peaceful moment that’s hard to come by in everyday life, and the setting made it all the more special.

The culinary offerings at The Mohonk Mountain House were exceptional. Meals were served in the Main Dining Room, an elegant space with beautiful views of the gardens and lake. The food was top-notch, featuring a variety of dishes with fresh, local ingredients.

The history of The Mohonk Mountain House added an extra layer of charm to the experience. It was hard not to notice that the resort’s long history was woven into its architecture.

So, need to get away for a long weekend or a week? Try The Mohonk Mountain House. It gave me a lifetime of memories in one stay.
