LOTTE NEW YORK PALACE, New York, NY

Situated in one of Manhattan’s most exclusive neighborhoods the Lotte New York Palace is one of New York City’s most iconic hotels. I found it a beautiful combination of classic elegance with modern amenities.

I found the Lotte to be a hotel unlike any other. The Lotte New York Palace occupies a prime address at 455 Madison Avenue (between East 50th and 51st Streets) – right across the street from St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It’s set among the historic Villard Mansion, a set of residences erected in 1884 for railroad magnate Henry Villard and later preserved as a historic landmark.

Originally opened as the Helmsley Palace in 1981, the Lotte New York Palace seemed like a hotel housed in a mansion and a hotel within a hotel. Among the variety of upscale rooms and suites are “The Towers.” Encompassing the 41st through 55th floors, The Towers offered even greater luxury, including corner tri-plex penthouse mansions that covered the upper floors and featured private elevators.

While the Palace gained some notoriety appearing on the 2000s TV show “Gossip Girl,” it’s also been the hotel of choice for international royalty, U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and even Derek Jeter!

The Palace made a profound impression on my senses. Entering through the courtyard of the Villard Mansions, I was awed by a grand staircase to a spacious lobby featuring a fireplace designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

Here are the reasons I found dining at The Palace an extraordinary experience …

Villiard Restaurant: An was a wonderfully indulgent way to start the day. The classic breakfast room featured everything from Eggs Benedict to brioche French toast and Lemon Mascarpone pancakes.

Gold Room: I had a great time relaxing in this lavishly appointed room enjoying signature cocktails (check out the special selection of martinis).

Trouble’s Trust: I found a visit to this classic bar so much fun. The cocktails were inspired by New York City and were just as refreshing as a walk in Central Park in autumn.

Pomme Palais: This delightful, boutique bakery featured delectable pastries and whimsical treats. One of my favorite moments.
