I love long weekend getaways. They give me time to forget about worries and spend some QUALITY TIME with family.
Located just an hour from Indianapolis, 90 minutes from Louisville and two hours from Cincinnati, the Brown County Inn as a family favorite.
When I drive up to check in I always feel the relaxed, calm “vibe” of the Inn start to wrap around me. It feels like I’m taking a deep cleansing breath. And almost everything about the Brown County Inn helps create that sense of relaxation.
One reason the Brown County Inn is so restful is that it’s so conveniently located. It’s just three blocks south of downtown Nashville IN. A pretty walking trail by a stream takes you into the shopping area. And – best yet – the Brown Country Inn is just a short hop to Brown County State Park. We always find the rooms, well, roomy … and clean and comfortable, too. Each room has a private balcony or patio, a flat screen TV, phone, coffee maker, free high-speed WiFi, an electric vehicle charging point, and blackout curtains to help keep out the morning sun if you want to sleep in. But maybe what we like most of all is all the amenities outside of the room. It’s like the huge grounds are our own personal playground.
There’s a “covered/enclosed” pool pavilion … children’s play area … 9-hole miniature golf course … shuffleboard … horseshoes … walkable garden … and volleyball court. There’s even a tetherball court. When I was a kid, tetherball was my favorite game. So, I can’t resist playing a few games of tetherball every visit.

There are plenty of shaded tables outside perfect for reading, relaxing, reunions, and family togetherness.

This is where I go for my outdoor adventures! Whether hiking through lush forests, mountain biking, or simply soaking in the panoramic views from the overlooks, Brown County State Park is an outdoor playground for every season. Fall foliage here is nothing short of spectacular!

Goats, goofiness, and good times! The Goat Conspiracy is a whimsical farm where you can hang out with adorable goats, take fun photos, and enjoy a playful atmosphere that’s perfect for families and animal lovers. Warning: You might leave with a new goat best friend!
3. Hard Truth Distillery
This is my favorite place to raise a glass? Hard Truth Distillery offers a behind-the-scenes look at how they craft their spirits, from whiskey to vodka. My wife and I love sipping in their gorgeous tasting room and taking their tour to learn all about their distilling process. It’s a really fun, spirited experience.
4. IndiGo Birding Nature Tours
IndiGo Birding Nature Tours is the ticket to spotting the area’s stunning birds and wildlife. I love the guided tours through scenic locales. A birdwatching tour that’s as educational as it is exciting!
