Lake Louise is snuggled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and is a post-card picture perfect destination for a long weekend or getaway. Whether you’re seeking a rustic trip to disconnect and recharge or an opportunity to be pampered, eat well and enjoy amazing nature scenery, Lake Louise has it all for you.
And when you’re there you should enjoy the Post Hotel & Spa.
The Post Hotel is less than 10 minutes away from Lake Louise. For me, staying at the Post Hotel was a purposeful decision vs staying at the bigger, more corporate hotel that’s right on Lake Louise. The Post Hotel gave us the ability to be pampered at their spa and eat well on-premise; without feeling like we were in a massive, cold hotel. The indoor pool, hot tub and steam room were refreshing ways to wind down after a day of hiking and site-seeing, and a way to transition to evening festivities, which we kicked off at the hotel bar.
Our room was clean, the beds were so comfortable. And the best part was the in-room fireplace. LOVED that.
You can use the hotel shuttle to get to Lake Louise. The hotel staff made it easy to get the shuttle and upon our return from the day we loved the attention from the staff. They took such good care of us that we didn’t want to leave.
Make sure to find time for afternoon tea, if you like that kind of thing.
And when you’re in Lake Louise, here are a few things we loved:
- Head to the lake. Lake Louise’s emerald waters are a sight to behold. Take a leisurely walk along the lakeshore trail to fully appreciate its beauty. For a more adventurous start, rent a canoe and paddle across the pristine water to immerse yourself in the scenery.
- Sunrise on the Lake: Get up early to catch the sunrise over the lake—a truly unforgettable sight. And make sure to follow the Tea House Trail, a moderate 4 mile round trip hike that rewards you with stunning views and a charming tea house at the summit. Enjoy a cup of tea and a freshly baked treat while soaking in the panoramic vistas.
- Big Beehive – continue your hike to the Big Beehive for sweeping views of Lake Louise from above.
- Hot Springs: Treat yourself to a relaxing soak at the Banff Upper Hot Springs, located just a short drive away. The warm, mineral-rich waters are the perfect way to soothe tired muscles.
- Icefields: Venture out to the nearby Columbia Icefield Parkway, often described as one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Stop at iconic viewpoints like Bow Lake and Peyto Lake for unforgettable photos. Visit the Athabasca Glacier, where you can take a guided glacier walk or hop aboard an Ice Explorer vehicle for a closer look.
